Why install solar film on your glazing?
Glass, even double glazing, lets a significant share of infrared radiation pass through. On a south-facing facade, standard glazing only rejects around 15 to 20% of solar energy. Solar protection film acts as a selective filter: its metallized structure reflects infrared to the outside while still allowing visible light through. You keep natural daylight without the greenhouse effect.
In practice, this is the fastest and most cost-effective solution to improve a building's thermal comfort without replacing windows. A 200 m² glazing installation is typically completed in 2 to 3 days, without interrupting business activity and without dust. Interior or exterior solar film: how to choose?
The choice depends on glazing type, glass area and facade accessibility.
Interior installation is suitable for single glazing and small double-glazed surfaces under 1.20 m². The film is protected from weather, which extends service life. However, on large double glazing, heat absorbed between the two glass panes can cause thermal stress. This is a real risk that many distributors fail to mention.
Exterior installation is recommended for large double glazing, laminated glazing, and curtain-wall facades. The film rejects solar energy before it even reaches the glass, making it more effective. Our exterior films are scratch-resistant and UV-resistant, with a durability of 7 to 10 years in vertical application.
