Decorative border strips for glass

You don’t always want to dress glazing from top to bottom. Sometimes a simple band is enough. That’s exactly what a decorative strip is: an adhesive film band applied horizontally to create a privacy line, a visual separation, or a decorative accent. A few centimetres high, across the full width, and the perception of the space changes instantly. Our strips can be installed on their own or as a refined finish alongside a frosted film. Available in multiple heights, motifs and finishes.

Decorative border strips: the detail that makes all the difference on glass

What is a border strip used for on glass?

A decorative border strip serves three purposes depending on the context. As a finish, it complements a frosted film installed on the central area of glazing. The frosted film covers the privacy zone; the strip frames the top or bottom to create an elegant transition between the frosted area and the clear glass. Without a strip, the frosted edge is a raw straight line. With it, a motif cleanly completes the glazing.

For visual marking, a strip installed at eye level makes glass visible in circulation areas. It’s a more aesthetic way to meet glazing-signage needs in public buildings than standard regulatory white bands.

For pure decoration, the strip dresses a pane you don’t want to cover from top to bottom. A patterned band on a restaurant transom, a geometric strip on low office partitions, or a frosted line on hotel glass doors: light and discreet, yet full of character.

Frosted strips, patterned strips: options

Frosted strips replicate the sandblasted-glass look of full frosted films, but in a band format. They create a translucent stripe that preserves daylight while blocking direct views. The result is sober and versatile, suitable for most professional environments.

Patterned strips feature a repeating design along the whole band. Geometrics, lines, waves, botanicals: each has its own visual rhythm that adds movement to the glazing. The motif is printed or structured in the film and won’t fade or degrade over time.

Heights vary by reference: from a few centimetres for a simple line to around twenty centimetres for a privacy band. The right choice depends on your glazing proportions and the strip’s intended role.

Standalone or combined with frosted film

Border strips are rarely random. In most projects, they complement an existing film already installed on the glazing. The most common case: a full frosted film covers the central area for privacy, while a patterned strip frames top and bottom to soften the transition and personalize the result. The frosted film does the functional work; the strip provides the aesthetic signature.

But strips also work perfectly on their own. On glazing you want to keep mostly clear, a single band at mid-height creates a visual marker to signal the glass and adds a decorative touch. It’s the minimalist way to dress glazing: discreet, fast to apply, effective.

Installation and joins

Installation is done wet, like a standard film. Border strips come in 10-metre rolls. On glazing wider than the roll, two lengths must be joined end-to-end. The join should be clean and aligned so the motif continues seamlessly. On repeating patterns, the design is made to connect discreetly when edges are butted tightly together.

Height positioning is the key to a clean result. We recommend marking a guide line (erasable pencil or masking tape) before wetting the glass to ensure a perfectly horizontal band across the whole width. On a thin strip, even a few millimetres of error is immediately visible.
