Gradient colour films

A progressive fade from colour to clear. A refined finish that dresses glazing without closing it off.

Half-coloured, half-clear: gradient colour film plays with transition. The tint is strong at one edge of the glazing, then progressively fades until it becomes fully transparent. You get an elegant fade effect that marks space visually without cutting the view or blocking light. It’s a go-to solution for interior designers and fit-out teams when they want colour on glass while keeping a clear viewing zone. Especially effective on shopfronts, office partitions and restaurant façades.

Gradient colour film: the art of a fade on glass

What’s the principle?

Gradient colour film is printed with a density gradient. On one side, the tint is strong and clearly visible; on the other, it progressively fades until it becomes fully transparent. Between the two, the transition zone blends colour with natural light, creating the impression of glass that changes shade like a frozen sunset.

Orientation is chosen during installation: colour at the top with clear at the bottom to keep eye-level views, or the reverse to screen the lower part while keeping coloured light above. Some projects also use a horizontal fade to transition between two areas on the same pane.

What it does better than other films

Full frosted film blocks the view across the entire surface. Transparent coloured film tints the glazing uniformly. Gradient colour film does both at the same time—on different zones of the same pane. That versatility is what makes it unique.

In practice, it answers two opposing needs on one piece of glass: add colour and visual identity on one area while keeping a clear viewing zone on another. No other film achieves that result in a single application.

Most common applications

On shopfronts, gradient colour is a powerful visual merchandising tool: the fade catches attention, the clear area keeps products visible, and the coloured zone gives the storefront a chromatic signature.

On office glass partitions, it structures space with a touch of colour while maintaining visual connection at desk level. It’s an alternative to classic frosted bands, with a more decorative dimension.

In hospitality, these films are used on room dividers, internal glazing and restaurant façades. The coloured fade adds character without visually weighing down light-filled spaces.

Installation and gradient orientation

Installation is wet-applied, like our other adhesive films. The key point for gradient film is direction: decide before you start whether the fade runs top-to-bottom, bottom-to-top or sideways.

We recommend dry-positioning the film against the glazing to validate direction and transition height, then proceed with squeegee and standard drying (2 to 4 weeks).
